Faschings

Hey there! I haven't been blogging for the past 2 weeks. Pardon me for my busy schedule! Well, it was the Fasching Week for the Germans as known as the Carnival Week. We were lucky to witness this great event because every year, there's only 1 period whereby they celebrate this Christian event. This event goes around the whole Europe, different countries having different periods of Carnivals. I attended a few of the Faschings.

Last weekend, a group of internationals and the 4 of us went to Cologne and Dusseldorf for a night. We experienced 2 Faschings and I think it was a good experience for me. If you were to ask if I would attend such an event again, I would say no. It's not because it's boring, it's just that the event is more appealing to kids than to adults. During the Faschings, people get to wear all kinds of costumes, from colourful costumes to characters costumes. You can see it when I post the photos up on the web. Myphotoalbum account is expiring soon. Will try to fix it soon. At Cologne that we went on the Second day, Zhi Yin and I bought quite a lot of souvenirs. Their souvenirs are really not cheap! If you compare it to China, you can buy a dozen of them! And, I spent quite a sum of money on them. I have yet to buy any souvenirs so I shall not safe on them. One of them that I bought has a special meaning to me and Dear. It is a musical merry-go-round that has a music from the Korean Drama 天国的阶梯. It is very meaningful for us. Thus, I bought it. At first, I din know that was the song in the drama but I like the music when I first heard it. It somehow stirs up my feeling. I went back the seond time to buy it after much consideration because the price was steep. I'm glad that I bought it. It took us 6 hours to travel all the way to Cologne. I don't want to regret not buying it. :)

Talking about Faschings, I attended 3 which 2 of them were Fasching Parades, 1 is at Cologne while another is at Gundelsheim, a class outing. They have people walking down the roads, some with cars and vans, regardless what age they are. They threw sweets to the public and everyone tried to catch them with plastic bags and umbrellas. To me, catching of sweets is just for kids. I just tried to catch a few that lands near me, just to fit in to the atmosphere.

This week has been a better study week compared to the previous 2 weeks. Last week was terrible with IT modules! Though the prof is kind and helpful, but his lesson was soooooo boring! Even those hardworking Germans couldn't stand his lessons. Sometimes, I felt pity for him because nobody was listening. I tried to listen and follow during lab lessons. He is so old and it feels so bad to ignore him. ): Luckily, this week we had a professor from Western Washington University to teach us Organisation. I must admit I learnt a lot in her class and time passed faster each day. I wonder how is the next Professor for International Law..

These 2 weeks have not been really great in terms of my mood. I don't know why but I just don't feel right. And, ytd morning, I scalded my hand when I was taking out the baked garlic bread for Zhi Yin's breakfast. Hopefully it doesn't stays a scar there. It's so like a birthmark now! Hmm.. Now, we have to rush our International Finance project which we have not touched it for the past few weeks. Everyone is complaining the difficulty of the Coursework and I have no clue about European Exchange! I shall start my research tmr, hopefully.

I have been trying to cook Chinese food at home and it's always not to my taste. There's always sth missing inside. I miss Singapore delicacies! I must eat it once I reach Singapore! I've been missing the great taste of the Hokkein Mee, Popiah, Rojak, Stingray... I just don't crave for pastas! When everywhere sells pastas and pizzas, I feel sick of having those. However, Turkish Doner is delicious! I'll miss it when I go back to Singapore.

56 Days left and I'll be back in Singapore. I miss Dear, my Family and friends! Contradictly, I'll miss Germany as well.

Valentines! <3

To all the couples out there, especially Dearie:

Happy V-Day! :D



This year, I couldn't celebrate Valentines Day with Dearie but we talked on Skype. Hehe. Though we're worlds apart, but the feeling is the same. I love him like how he loves me. (: Dearie, we shall celebrate our post-V-Day when I go back to Singapore. Hees. I can't wait for 24th April to arrive.

This whole week, we have no lessons due to Prof Elam having some personal matters to settle. It is saddening and it was difficult for us to understand International Finance when my bro has not even been taught in his University. While we were given assignments to do and self-study, it was changed to Coursework. We don't understand a single thing and we need to do a project on it. How can we possibily do it? I doubt anyone can do a proper Coursework for him.

Wednesday, we had Negotiation test. It was quite simple as 90% of the paper was in the sample questions which we had consulted him. (: Hopefully, I can score well.

Thursday, we had a finance discussion but to no progress. Then, to Zhiyin's place to had our traveling plans after studies. It's not confirmed yet but currently it's like this:

Friday - Sunday: Italy
Monday - Tuesday: UK
Wednesday - Thursday: Back to Germany
Thursday night: Flying back to Singapore! :D

Friday, trained to Stuttgart early morning for shopping. Supposedly, we will be going to Outletcity in Stuttgart today but I fell ill in the morning. Probably caught a cold ytd as I din put on my scarf and it was really cold. Had bad headaches and fever, thus shopping at Stuttgart was cancelled today. I rested like the whole morning until I ate cereal & panadol at 3pm. Thank god I'm feeling better now. (: Dearie couldn't stand me for not going to the doctor. Haha. Bleah~

Everything's fine now. Dear's prawning later with friends. He promised to bring me there when I go back! Hees. Let's see if he'll catch any prawn tonight. I bet not! :P

Mosbach

Is it because I have not blog for sucha long time and Dear is invading my blog? Hmm.. Btw, I've been real busy and tired for the past few days. That's why I din have the time to update my blog. But, I promise to upload lots of pictures up! :D

I'm currently in Mosbach now and have settled down in my new house. And, today I just got the time to film my apartment with me alone at home! I'm staying with the landlady (Mrs Bengsch) and her daughter, another 3 Germans studying in BA and Kenny who moved in last weekend. Before I moved into this apartment, I did not expect much, just having internet will do. Never did I expect the apartment will be neatly organised and its great designs! I am very satisfied with the apartment and that it is a blessing to get sucha nice apartment in a single room with wireless internet. Most imptly, I am well-treated by the landlady and her daughter. They are very easy-going and friendly. I couldn't expect anything more from them. (:

During the past 2 weeks, besides having bored orientation in school for 3 days, Charlotte (my landlady's daughter) brought me and the 3 of us out! :D Last Saturday, we went to an old castle, an old town and ludwigsburg castle. Though we did not go into the ludwigsburg castle since we went into many castles during our past excursion trips, we did drop by to take quick pictures of the castle. It is the most beautiful castle among the rest that we went. We shall go there during the Spring period. Anyway, we went shopping around Ludwigsburg and Charlotte drove us to Kaufland to buy groceries before going home. We dun have to carry the heavy groceries back ourselves.

On Monday, Charlotte brought me and Zhiyin to join their Belly Dance lesson. It was fun as we imitate them while they dance. We were warmly invited by the rest of their dancemates even though we know nothing about Belly Dance. Ytd, she brought us to attend Fasching which was organised by her friend. She bought the ticket especially for me even before I moved into the house! The fasching was an eye-opener for us. They have many performance lined up and surprisingly, we were invited on the stage as we were the only internationals there. The feeling was great when you are warmly welcomed by all the people there. We also took a few pictures with a few of them who wore special costumes. There were people role-playing as criminal, wicked witch and priest. The priest looks so real! Haha. Though I have not seen a real one but I've seen it on films. The fasching lasted a little too late and I was falling asleep during the last few performance.

I must say Charlotte is really lovely. She helped us find and plan our outing when we wanted to go Stuttgart on Friday. She jotted down all the train schedules and drew me a map of where the shopping area is. I shall plan something for her at the end of my stay here. (: Maybe I can try cooking our local dish using the spices that I brought here. Heh.

Speaking about Stuttgart, the four of us and Cat(rin), our friend from Texas, we went to Wilhelma Zoo on Friday since the Negotation exam is postponed to next Fri! Europe's biggest Zoological Garden as stated in the Negotiation case study. Haha. At first, due to the constructions, we were quite disheartened but when we walked further in, we were amazed by how near we can get to the animals. You can literally walked into their habitats because there was no barrier! Can you imagine we can actually touch the penguins with our bare hands! The animals in the zoo seems so happy, unlike those in Singapore Zoo. Well, they should be happy since they have such a good life there with nice habitat and good food. I guess the visitors will also feel happy to watch the birds chirp happily and animals chewing on their food so happily. And, one thing that I observed.. Unlike all the other animals, Monkeys behave very humanly. When you look into their eyes, you know what they are trying to say. When they are bored, they will lie down with their chin on their hands. I never know monkeys behave like this. Now, I really believe maybe in the past, humans are really monkeys. Well, well..

Other than having outings, Zhiyin and I with 3 other internationals (UK, US & Finland) went for Aerobics organised by BA Sports on Tue! While it was free, we get to exercise instead of storing fats everyday. (: I think I underestimated their aerobics. It was so tough! I had Aerobics back in Singapore a few years ago and it wasn't that bad! Rah. I really need some vigorous exercise. I am going next tue! Hah!

I just joined Facebook a few days ago though I rejected joining many times. The only reason that I joined is because I dun wanna lose contact with the internationals. They only have Facebook, that's why. Well, it wasn't that bad afterall. It's kor's fault! He always plays games on Facebook that I thought that Facebook = Playing Online Games. While I need some time to explore my Facebook, I'll upload some photos up when I'm free. Currently, I'm still using myphotoalbum to upload my Germany photos. I've just updated them. (:
